Apparently house got struck by lightning last night, and it fried one of my tvs that wasn't on surge protector. My internet (modem/router/wifi all in one) was on surge protector and so was my pc.

My computer won't connect to internet via ethernet. When I run troubleshooting i get the error message "The Intel(R) Ethernet Connection (2) I219-V adapter is experiencing driver- or hardware-related problems"

Tried unplugging router for 30 seconds, and plugging it back in.
Tried restarting PC 100 times.
Tried dl the driver.
Tried a different ethernet port on the router.

PC info:
Windows 10
Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz 1151
Asus Z170-AR LGA 1151 ATX


I'm pretty bad with computers, but willing to try anything to help me connect to internet.

Everything else connects just not the pc?

Also see what your home insurance covers to see if whatever you had that didn't make it through the lightning is covered

Everything else was on wifi connection. I just tried the ethernet to the ps4 and seems to be working. So I don't believe its the internet's fault. Must be a driver or hardware issue on pc.

so you think its a physical problem, nothing i can just do in settings or anything?

what would be the cheapest solution to fixing this?

get a new lan card


i dont know if thats the issue though, just my assumption, wait for someone else

There is an orange light that does light up when I plug in the ethernet cable on my pc

should be a green and orange

boot linux live disc. does the connection work then?

orange light is on, green light is off
