Can you try a different smudge background?

You clearly already have a style in mind. Smudge is an extremely broad style. Can you find one example of a smudge style you like so we know what you're looking for?

Yea sure, guess I like more distinct smudge rather than blended;

I'd suggest looking for a higher quality and larger stock. It is unlikely that anyone who is actually decent with smudge is going to try something with such a small stock.

With someone good you might also have to pay up front.
