So what you are saying is that we can keep doing what we're doing without having to fear for Earth's ability to sustain enough resources for humans to live from?
Of course. Eventually humans will die out anyway because of overpopulation. Humans reproducing like zerg will consume all resources until the next logical decision is to spread to another planet. Also, the sun gets hotter and cooler over time and that affects how hot the earth gets which no one in this thread pointed out until now. Furthermore, there is still the probability that the sun can get extremely hot and fry us all or it can get really cold and we all freeze to death. Nevertheless, our lives depend greatly on that star..
Eventually, fossil fuels will be depleted and humans will be forced to develop other energy gathering technology. The business interest holds back technology that would allow a cleaner earth. I don't know exactly how long it will take for humans to decide to develop and implement cleaner technology. Probably, in the next 500 years.
