Some older mother board won't acept more than 4 GB of ram , some people do not have more money to spend on their PC , 5$ is nothing to most of us , but some can't.
You also linked DDr3 , his PC might run on ddr2 which would be significantly more expensive.
if you're running ddr2 in 2k17, why even ask what the issue is.
also, no dude. Don't tell me $5 is 'not negotiable' if he can get on the computer he can make $5...
He should just do what I did. Get a LoL Account to masters and sell it for a gtx 1060. ez
- again
if he actually is using a 4gb max motherboard, he can buy a new motherboard from craigslist or some chinese company for $10 with the same socket. There is no way in hell he is trying to play PoE on a ddr2 motherboard or a compatible CPU. The only CPUs that are on the same socket as ddr2 are LGA 775 which have $13 CPU chips

Get 16gb of ram, it only costs at most $30
If you're actually using ddr2, then you must be using Windows 7 - Which updating has been discontinued, and you NEED to upgrade.
Windows 7 Home Basic can only utilize 8gb of ram, Premium can use 16gb of ram
If you want an extremely cheap fix I recommend buying a used G4560 for $50
A used Gigabyte GA-B150M-D3H DDR3 for ~$40 or any LGA1151 (has 4 ram slots)
That should hold you over until you get the ~$140 for a i5 6600k on the next Cyber Monday
You're looking at ~$120 to upgrade now
Another ~$140 to get you to an extreme CPU upgrade
and ~$120 on Cyber Monday if you want to get a GTX 1060 3gb OC Windforce and you'll hit 60 FPS 1080p on even the latest games.
This is also assuming you have a 500 Watt Power Supply, which if you're using an extremely old computer(ddr2) you may need to pick up a $30 PSU, or a $10 PSU from craigslist (Don't buy a PSU used retail, the shipping is more than the actual price of the PSU.)
