It's not about understanding or not, it's about what makes sense in terms of the movie, the movies world and the characters.

Basically nothing in that movie makes sense. Let's ignore everything, the bad acting the bad dialogue the inconsistent continuity and look at just the plot.



Also why did the fucking biologist who didn't want to be near a dead alien body (out of fear?) start playing with a fucking strange worm creature without knowing anything about it?

The amount of stupidity these scientists show is absurd and insulting.

If you want a fully in depth explanation of why the movie was shit look up "film brain Prometheus" on YouTube. He goes through basically everything. He is hard to listen to because he is an annoying twat but the points he talks about are valid.

Why did Fifield get lost when he had the map on his arm the whole time?
- because he was on drugs that he put in his respiratory system? did you not watch the movie? because this combined with the panic and paranoia he felt after the pile of corpses, a feeling which his drugs multiplied by who knows how much?

Why did David spike Holloway's drink if he has no emotions?
- he had plenty of emotions, thats why the new version in Covenant is deprived of them in comparison as that freaked people out and model was changed.

Why did they pretend Weyland was dead the whole time?
- there is no they here? only one person ever mentioned death and thats weyland himself in the hologram message. btw what idea of the mission FAR OUT INTO DEEP SPACE, where their lives are at risk because who knows what might happen, would you be more comfortable with? a scientific exploration for the sake of solving mankinds greatest mystery or a selfish trip as paid slaves for the sake of one mans immortality dreams?

How did the Engineer know where Shaw was in the climax?
- you honestly think his super advanced ship has no AI or camera-type technology that was showing/telling him what happens all around him when he was taking off? also nobody knows IF he knew for sure where she was, he might have just looking for her and came into the pod as the first place where to look (you know the only not exploded piece of human tech left on the field? ROFL), her radio revealed her.

Why did Shaw and Vickers run in a straight line away from the giant ship rolling towards when literally any other direction except backwards would have been better?
- have you ever experienced panic in a super-near-death situation under super-high adrenaline as a someone who is completely not used to this kind of scenario? people do much more weird things under much smaller pressure. and btw we all apologize to you that both of them did not stop and turn around to take a closer look at the trajectory of a massive object coming their way to make a more calculated decision, im sure thats what you would do right? AND theyre both women

- who says she did not? who knows how strong the painkillers she used were? who knows what amplified effect the double dose of painkillers she used causes? certainly not you.

Why was there a shrine to a fully grown Xenomorph in the cave when the ending clearly showed us a 'proto-xenomorph' coming out of the engineer's corpse?
- surely you are not that stupid to assume these guys did not test this bio-weapon before? different types of exposure to the weapon cause different xenomorphs: facehugger, goo, and now the airbourne virus in Covenant.

I didn't read the rest of your post because you are clearly a fucking idiot as proven in this post and many other posts.

But 1) getting high by adjusting your air mixture is both fucking absurd and also the kind of health and safety anti tampering that should be on space suits, no?
2) even if he was a little high he clearly was still mostly cognizant, he is the map guy, plus had a map on his arm, plus had communication with the captain who had a giant fucking map that showed where EVERYONE was. There is absolutely no excuse for him getting lost. And sure argue he is high out of his mind no matter how absurd that is, what about the guy with him? He wasn't high.

It make no sense. The writers were just fucking terrible, that is the answer.

Ran away got out and have someone else get lost

Not to mention why is he scared of a dead alien body? Makes no damn sense, he knew what he was there for and what he could be seeing yet he wasn't prepared? And why did he Rambo in to attack the LIVING alien when he was a giant fucking pussy around the dead one.

ALSO why if they had two people lost on an alien world did fucking EVERYONE leave the bridge instead of having at least a skeleton crew to make sure shit doesn't go down it at the very least know if something does happen?

ALSO why is it the place they decide to rest for the night is the place they literally just fucking ran away from because they were sacred of the dead body in there? Last I checked the other crew just took the head, the body is still there. Why are they no longer scared?

Speaking of the head why the fuck are they making the doctor do tests on it instead of waiting for the fucking biologist? Why is the very first fucking idea to try and reanimate it? Are there no fucking safety or quarantine procedures?

Everything made sense... It was just awful. Character development was awful and within an hour into the movie, I was actively rooting for Fassbender's character to kill everyone. You didn't care about anyone, they were all unlikable or just awful people. Nothing about the movie with the exception of the visuals was enjoyable.

Not sure how or why anyone was confused by the plot or its nuances, shit all seemed pretty straight forward to me, it wss just bad though.
