New York’s attorney general Eric T. Schneiderman says that Time Warner Cable defrauded consumers by providing internet service that was much slower than advertised. Moreover, he maintains that the company neglected to upgrade its own services at the same time it was negotiating new contracts with both Netflix and Riot Games. It also claims the company worked in secret to confuse the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

Schneiderman is seeking damages on behalf of hundreds of thousands of consumers who experienced poor performance generally, and specifically with regard to Netflix streaming services and Riot’s flagship League of Legends game.

imo lower regulations could have helped time warner provide better service at lower costs and they wouldn't be forced into false advertising

or from another angle, this is a matter of free speech and when an internet service provider says they provide speeds "up to" x, then it's perfectly acceptable to provide speeds anywhere from 0 to X

what say you pard :o ?

The same principles that free market supporters use to argue for a free market make a free market impossible.

In a free market it is advantageous to organize a government that benefits you, so by rational choice theory a government benefiting the wealthy will always arise from a free market system.

they neglected to upgrade my friend's internet through like 3-4 years. When he called all they had to do was click a button to increase his speed by 4x. they had him throttled at a package that hadnt even existed for 2 years. fuck em right in their asses.

Because American docs are generally overdramatised and prone to embellishment? British history documentaries are far superior to American generally. I can't speak for all genres but I would not be surprised to see a similar disparity across the board.
