But in the future, when you make a new str bugged char always allow yourself to die, then quit game immediately, rejoin and see if you pick your corpse up in town

Yeah, the gear I'd wear 99% of the time is not str bugged. I probably should have clarified more in the original post. It's just when I switched to sorb gear, that it bugged out. Should have caught it, didn't, live and learn.
