Every company is going to be like that. If you are liked by management you aregoing to rise faster than someone that isn't liked.
As for the yes men shit, like minded people usually get along better so of course you are going to get further in the company if you agree with your superiors.
I understand sometimes that might not be the right thing to do, but at the end of the day, that person is getting their bills paid. That is what a job is about.

it's not the same, though. there's a world of difference between a bunch of young adults managing a headquarters and a corporate office that has big age differences and are supervised by external managers. like, if you love Bobby and want to promote him because he has all the dank memes and the best blowjobs, you can probably do that in a setting where all other decision-makers matches your demographics and interests. but then if you're in a branch of a bigger company, you rarely see your own superiors, and headquarters expects standards and performance out of you, then it's very hard to sell Bobby if he's not producing tangible results.
