i do know ryzen 2 is going to be much better but i also know intel isn't really worth it because you're getting less for more money and it's not like that extra fps matters when both chips play the games very well. You may as well get the one that has more room to grow and be taken advantage of by software in the future rather than wank off to your fraps counter.

Using the passmark website comparing the ryzen 1800x to some I7 (think it was the 6700) they are near identical price per performance.

ex: ryzen 7 1800x = 15375 average cpu mark, Last Price Change: $469.99 USD (2017-02-27) CPUmark/$Price: 32.71
item i7 6700k = 11119 average cpu mark, Last Price Change: $339.99 USD (2015-08-21) CPUmark/$Price: 32.70

What are you trying to get at.

ryzen 1600 gets almost twice the CPUmark/$Price as the 6700k (56 vs 32)
1700 is also significantly ahead

but ofc you went for the 1800x the worst priced one and was never meant to compete with the 6700k

i would take passmark results with a grain of salt anyway, it's not the best synthetic out there. aida64 benchmark metrics are better than just arbitrarily giving a 'score' to a cpu

I take all benchmarks with a grain of salt. Only thing that matters is the epeen test

Code
abduct@ ~ $ echo `uptime|grep days|sed 's/.*up \([0-9]*\) day.*/\1\/10+/'; cat /proc/cpuinfo|grep MHz|awk '{print $4"/30 +";}'; free|grep '^Mem' |awk '{print $3"/1024/3+"}'; df -P -k -x nfs | grep -v 1k | awk '{if ($1 ~ "/dev/(scsi|sd)"){ s+= $2} s+= $2;} END {print s/1024/50"/15+70";}'`|bc|sed 's/\(.$\)/.\1cm/'
1085.6cm

As in, having more resources to be taken advantage of when software, specifically games given the context of this thread, is ready to use them. It happened with the fx bulldozer chips, they used to be over 50% behind the 2500k when they came out now more like 13%, and it will happen with ryzen too.

by resources i mean cores and threads.

where are you getting these information from?
bulldozer chips are trash and no where close to being behind only "13%"
even fx piledrivers are donezos.

im still usin my 2500k @ 4.9ghz over 8350 @ 4.6
