He's an undersized LB prospect whose only real fit is as a weakside LB in a 4-3, and he'd be playing a position he's never played before in that role. First round is pretty high for projects.

Just for you bbgrill

Draft order taken from here http://walterfootball.com/nfldraftorder2017.php so don’t bitch.

Round 1
1. Cleveland Browns (1-15) - Myles Garrett, DE, Texas A&M
I know it’s the Browns but this has to be the pick. Garrett has been “knocked” a little bit as not that good which does have some validity to it buuuut he’s still pretty fucking good and should be selected here. If the Browns don’t go with Garrett, they need to just say fuck trends and take Fournette here.

2. Jacksonville Jaguars via San Francisco (2-14) - Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU
*TRADE* The Niners send the #2 overall pick and their fourth rounder (2017) to the Jaguars for the #4 overall pick and their third rounder (2017)

The Jaguars covet Fournette imo and are doing their best at playing it cool. It seems like they’re making all the preparations to gear up for their new franchise QB next year. Even if that thought is incorrect, they still need a run game and dropping one round later on is worth getting a talent like Fournette who will make their entire offense better.

3. Chicago Bears (3-13) - Malik Hooker, FS, Ohio State
Bears aren’t really hiding this one.

4. Cleveland Browns via San Francisco via Jacksonville (3-13) - Mitchell Trubisky, QB, North Carolina
*TRADE* The Niners send the #4 overall pick to the Browns for the #12 overall pick and their second rounder (2017) acquired from Tennessee.

The Niners move down once more. The Browns have tons of ammunition to move up in the draft and they seem to have genuinely serious interest in Trubisky. Knowing that Tennessee wants to move down and the Jets have interest in Trubisky as well, the Browns leap whoever the Titans might trade with along with the Jets and get the top prospect in the draft and their hopeful franchise QB while only giving up their later of 2 second round picks and still having the first pick of round 2.

5. Tennessee Titans via Los Angeles Rams (4-12) - Mike Williams, WR, Clemson
After early reports of the Titans being in love with Williams came out, everything became very quiet on that subject which tells me that they actually do love Williams. Spending the #5 pick on him isn’t an awful decision since they signed Logan Ryan in FA and still have the #18 pick to use on a talented defensive player. Williams will give Mariota a whole nother level of weapon to throw to.

6. New York Jets (5-11) - Jamal Adams, SS, LSU
If Adams is there, the Jets will take him. It’s pretty much more of a sure thing than Garrett going #1.

7. Los Angeles Chargers (5-11) - Solomon Thomas, DE/OLB, Stanford
This might be a bit of a surprise pick but the Chargers do need someone to stand up across from Ingram and imagine a pass rushing trio of Ingram, Bosa and Thomas.

8. Carolina Panthers (6-10) - Marshon Lattimore, CB, Ohio State
Recent reports: “There’s no chance that Christian McCaffrey gets past the Panthers.” Yeah, I agree…..unless the top cornerback in the class is available.

9. Cincinnati Bengals (6-9-1) - Jonathan Allen, DE/DT, Alabama
Allen is likely to slide a bit and the Bengals will be very happy to take him.

10. Buffalo Bills (7-9) - Marlon Humphrey, CB, Alabama
Bills are trying to trade down but with most of the action already happening and no one being too interested in this pick they’ll have to likely stay here and see who’s available. In this case the #2 corner is here and being one of their bigger needs, it isn’t too awful of a situation.

11. New Orleans Saints (7-9) - Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson
Whaaaaaa?!!?!? Yeah it’s not that crazy actually. Saints have been looking for a QB for a bit now to be a successor to Brees, they haven’t hid that they like Watson and for Watson to have any success in the NFL he needs to sit for at least a year and learning behind a great like Brees will help him immensely.

12. San Francisco 49ers via Cleveland via Philadelphia (7-9) - Derek Barnett, DE/OLB, Tennessee
Remember just a few short years ago when the Niners had all of those picks and were able to make luxury selections like Marcus Lattimore? Well now they just simply need to acquire as many picks as they can and try and fill their roster. Remember that same time when Aldon Smith was getting a lot of sacks and things were awesome? Not so much anymore. Barnett is a solid pick at this juncture and will help right the ship in San Francisco.

13. Arizona Cardinals (7-8-1) - Gareon Conley, CB, Ohio State
As much as I’d like to slot Mahomes here I highly doubt we take a QB in the first. There’s been so much open talk about it that I can’t imagine it happening. Conley is the third best corner in this class and fills a big need for us. Howard is another option but I doubt it with what we just paid Gresham but it could happen. Foster is another option but with all his outside football shit I’d have to assume BA and Keim will pass.

14. Philadelphia Eagles via Minnesota (8-8) - Adoree’ Jackson, CB, USC
A lot of talk lately about Jackson going earlier than most believe and for whatever reason I’m feeling the Eagles. He can help all over the place for them and is a really good talent who’s just buried in an incredibly talented corner class.

15. Indianapolis Colts (8-8) - Christian McCaffrey, RB, Stanford
I can’t see McCaffrey making it past the Colts.

16. Baltimore Ravens (8-8) - Cam Robinson, OT, Alabama
Lost their RT in FA, top tackle in the class, Bama player to the Ravens, it all fits.

17. Washington Redskins (8-7-1) - Reuben Foster, ILB, Alabama
Washington’s need for LBs will help them forget all about the red flags flying up everywhere on Foster.

18. New York Giants via Tennessee (9-7) - O.J. Howard, TE, Alabama
*TRADE* The Titans send the #18 pick to the Giants for the #23 pick and third rounder (2017)

There is very little chance that Howard falls to this point but if he does you better believe that quite a few teams will be trying to move up for him. The Giants, in a very non-Giant move, pull the trigger to get the top prospect on their big board.

19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (9-7) - Dalvin Cook, RB, Florida State
This seems like the match made in heaven. Jameis is pulling for the Buccs to get Cook, they seem ready to move on from Dougie so seems like a good fit all around.

20. Denver Broncos (9-7) - Taco Charlton, DE, Michigan
Taco should have been gone already but he’s a big time talent that fills a need for the Broncos so it’s an easy pick.

21. Detroit Lions (9-7) - John Ross, WR, Washington
I mocked Ross to the Lions last mock too and if he’s there I have to think they’ll pull the trigger. There isn’t much here that fills a need for them (maybe a LB) but ross is the BPA at this point and we’ve seen teams pull the trigger on talented receivers in the first before even if it’s not a pressing need. Making a trio of Tate, Jones and Ross will give Stafford all the weapons he could want not named Megatron.

22. Miami Dolphins (10-6) - Forrest Lamp, OG, Western Kentucky
This isn’t speculation at this point, the Phins will take Lamp if he’s available unless they like one of the pass rushers more. With Charles Harris being the only pass rusher on the board left worth a first round pick, the Phins do some work on their OL.

23. Tennessee Titans via New York Giants (11-5) - Chidobe Awuzie, CB, Colorado
If the Titans stayed put at 18 they likely would have selected Awuzie anyway so moving down, picking up a third rounder and getting the same player is a great move for them.

24. Oakland Raiders (12-4) - Jarrad Davis, ILB, Florida
There have been a lot of reports of the Raiders liking Kevin King which would make sense for them but if Davis is sitting there I’d find it difficult to believe that they are going to pass on him.

25. Houston Texans (9-7) - Patrick Mahomes, QB, Texas Tech
If Mahomes is there, this is all but a certainty to happen.

26. Seattle Seahawks (10-5-1) - Garett Bolles, OT, Utah
They need OT help, Bolles is argued to be the top OT in this class (seems like everyone has a different opinion between Robinson, Bolles and Ramczyk) so here it is.

27. Kansas City Chiefs (12-4) - DeShone Kizer, QB, Notre Dame
Chiefs have been very quiet about who they do and do not like in this class and there has been a lot of speculation about them taking a QB in the first and I’m falling for that speculation. Unfortunately for them they likely won’t have their pick of the litter but I don’t doubt that they’ll pull the trigger on a QB if one they like is sitting there.

28. Dallas Cowboys (13-3) - Charles Harris, DE/OLB, Missouri
Biggest need is DE, Harris is an incredible talent who shouldn’t really be available here. Done and done.

29. Green Bay Packers (10-6) - Kevin King, CB, Washington
Let’s just be real here, they’re taking a corner. I know the Watt in Wisconsin thing is a cool idea but if one of the top 5 corners is still on the board, the Packers won’t hesitate.

30. Pittsburgh Steelers (11-5) - Jabrill Peppers, SS/LB, Michigan
Colbert (Steelers’ GM) has already publicly said that he wants Peppers at this slot which makes sense, they can use him in a lot of different ways.

31. Atlanta Falcons (11-5) - Takkarist McKinley, DE, UCLA
They need another DE, McKinley is gaining a lot of momentum going into the draft, it’s a good fit for them.

32. New Orleans Saints via New England (14-2) - Haason Reddick, OLB, Temple
The Saints need LB help, specifically someone who can cause some problems in the backfield, Reddick is a great talent, fits the range, even has some some positive value this late in the first, with already addressing their QB of the future they need to spend the rest of the draft focusing on defense.

If Allen falls to us at #9 I would be very happy.

Would Jarrad Davis be a stupid pick for the cowboys in the first? I feel like he's a talent that you don't pass up if he's there late in the first.

I know we're expecting Smith to be healthy and play this year, but if he can't, I'd really like to see another stud playing next to Lee.

Not necessarily but a consistent pass rusher would be better. Edge 1st round, corner in the 2nd
