So it looks like Macron definitely won the first round. He has a 2.5% advantage over Le Pen with 96% of the votes counted.
Le Pen is in fact closer to the third candidate (Fillon, who is 1.5% behind) than she is to Macron.
Looks like a pretty big blow for the FN despite making it to the 2nd round 15 years later, considering the expectations were much higher just a few weeks (even days) ago. It was obvious she didn't have a serious chance of becoming president, but going through to round two as second, with only 21% of the votes and almost everyone against you pretty much kills her chances of at least having a strong performance.
Let's see how the campaign goes until the final round 2 weeks from now, but unless Macron really fucks up and is unable to attract voters from other parties, it will probably be a landslide victory.

Meh... maybe when here niece Marion takes over the party. But still the dutch election had better alternatives ^^
