Hello all,

I noticed this section a few days after ordering my new Lenovo y520 I7

16gb ram 2tb hdd (5200speed however =() gtx 1050ti , i7 processor.

I am currently using an Asus (cant complain other than bloatware) which is a netbook from .... 2009-10?

aka Ancient.

What is the best way to protect my new laptop?

IE what if any antivirus should I seek out.

OR

What programs should I make a point to installing FIRST to make easiest backups?

I appreciate it greatly JSP community.

lol i was gonna try out bitdefender after reading this even though i know i dont need it (got a surplus of common sense) but it wouldn't even let me install it without upgrading IE to 10 and i'll be damned if im ever going to enable WUA while Windows 10 Spyware already has a history of worming into 7 machines. Had it disabled ever since they announced 10.

Use the old installer, then you won't have those issues as they use the same definition file.
Also spybot has a program out called Spybot Anti-Beacon which you should look into.
TBH if your worried about being tracked you should probably just log off the Internet permanently.

I'm worried about windows 10 being rammed down my throat. Happened to a few of my friends already. Wake up and their machine is suddenly upgraded I figure is WUA if off they can't upload it into my hdd while im asleep or something.
I know it's paranoid but I do not trust microsoft at all anymore.
