My SSD seems to have gone bad, after failing to boot twice it went to disc repair automatically and now it's counting a massive amount of unreadable sectors (100k+) for the past few hours. Hopped onto another computer and I'm wondering if I should let it finish the repair or turn it off and try something else.
I'm also wondering if this means the SSD is dead or if I just need to reformat, and if file recovery is possible. The drive is barely 3-4 months old...Thanks for the help.

its sounds bad, start RMA process.
Personally if it was me and there was important shit on there I'd shut it down and start a recovery process.
If theres nothing of importance then just go get a replacement and reinstall fresh.

"Recovered" after about 5 hours of repairs, but now I'm on edge about it possibly happening again. Took your advice and checked out RMA procedure for my product, hopefully it doesn't come to it since I'd have to go 2 weeks on an HDD.
The warranty is not even at the halfway mark, so I'll give it a 2nd chance before doing it. This isn't a common experience for SSD's is it?

An SSD really shouldn't do that. I would just do as he suggested...RMA it while you still CAN get the data off of it.

Ask if you can do an advanced rma.
Tell the u need functioning pc for work so any up time would be better then down time.
Will need a credit card though to put funds on hold. This is why I don't by random brands.
Rma procedures can be bullshit.

It's a Samsung and the warranty is quite generous. Still 2 weeks is a long time on a regular drive for me. Looks like I have no choice though, booting sends me to repair every time.

Have all the packaging, so I'll take care of the rest. Now I just need to backup. Thanks for the help.
