Heading to Korea around the July timeframe for the military. Will be stationed for approximately 12 months or so.

What can I expect? Is it safe to assume, at least around the military installations, it's civil between Koreans and Americans? I love to travel and would love to explore the country, however if there are certain areas I should shy from, would be great advice!

Food.. I love it. Any dishes I should be on the look for, or stay away from?

As far as I am aware, I am heading to Zone 1 (Near the DMZ). No vehicle will be shipped, so local / military travel will have to suffice for any and all experiences.

Enlisted or Officer?

I strongly suggest you don't eat out as much as an enlisted, even as an officer. Go to Costco and make your own food.

If you want to try some of the food, go to the outside food stalls ran by those old ladies. A lot of the food are really good, snacks or Korean BBQ.

Just 1 thing I hate is those bunddagis or whatever. Silkwork or some ish. GROCE.

Enlisted, hardship tour.
I am blissfully unaware of what stores are even over there, aside from the obvious PX/ NEX, Commissary, etc.
