So you put some relic from the past (2002-2005) thats been hiding in yards for the last decade back on the road. This thing has history and now i get to make my changes and give it another chapter.

My Daily is a Lifted 99 TDI beetle with over 400,000 miles, but the time has come to pull the motor and give it a lot of cleaning and upgrades, new lifters/cam/seats, new gaskets/timing/waterpump, and a fuel overhaul.
Also my intake runners on the head are nasty... so i decided to pull the motor and do it all at once, might even make a thread in here if anyone has any interest in seeing the progression. Shooting for 160hp / 290tq

Anyway here is a car that was sitting in my garage till i found a reason to drop a few months of motor/suspension/drivetrain/brake/wiring work into it to get it back driveable. She pulls great for a little 2.slow
I didn't do the original work, and its a long story how i got it.. but short story, belonged to a great friend that wanted it on the road... but was taken from this world before he could, so i saved it with a promise to bring it back.

Known Performance Upgrades:
96 2.0L ABA swap
JE Pistons
Ported head, Oversize Values, 262 Cam
SDS EM-3 engine management (yeah, its fucking old)

Slave cyl to cable clutch kit
Full Poly Bushings
Eibach Pro Swaybar Kit front and rear
Bilstein PSS9 Coilovers
Corrado K frame/Brakes/Hubs/Arms
VW Quantum Non-Power Steering Rack
Sure i'm missing a lot

Scene Points:
16x9 Kerscher Carmona's
mk7 Golf R steering wheel and soon Seats
Half missing interior (needs help)
Custom Caddy Tailgate Hatch
Euro taillights cut down for some old boser theme, but unique and well done
Bunch of shaved and custom shit, some will change..

That's an awesome story.

Why dual pumps? I see no way you're running out of fuel.

Thanks dude, it will be 5 years in may. Probably the biggest lesson in life I learned was how to deal with a major loss. Definitely was a true reality check on mortality.

A lot of people mistake rabbits, mk2 golfs, and Omni's for each other. I know I have before lol

Thanks man, and its something that I noticed was done to it when I dropped the tank to clean the old shit out.. It has an internal and external, the external is quite small so I'm guessing he probably had an issue at one point and added a helper. When I first drove this car, it was running 17psi so maybe he had lean issues. Who knows

Interesting. At first I thought surge tank, but typically, a smaller puller pump will feed into the surge tank, and that gravity feeds into the high pressure fuel pump - leading to the rail. Doesn't sound like the case in this instance. Curious.

Yeah who really knows, could also do with it being built in 2002. Technology these days makes for stronger, smaller setups. Or on the same note it could be due to lack of knowledge on what was really needed because of older times. Either way when I do my motor build things like that will be changed. Looking at building a 2.1L ABA 16 value stroker setup with a diesel crank :o

That's really cool! I'm always on the look out for 80's diesel maximas as the LD28 crank makes a hell of a 3.0-3.3L stroker out of my Datsun motors.

I'm sure your friend would be thrilled to know you have become caretaker of his project. I lost my dad 5 years ago, this May, as well. Shitty month, May.

Also glad to hear the Beetle has future plans too.
