I've been away from diablo for 10 years now. It sucks seeing the game list so empty. I'm on useast softcore. Wondering, do I need to manually level myself through normal / nightmare? Or will things pick up in nightmare?

You need a Grush and do chaos runs in hell and then do cbaal runs after 60. That is the fastest way to level.
