Give Gabbard another 4 or 8 years and she may just surprise everyone. She's a bit too young atm.
I think the first female president has to have some appeal with the male voters.

Hillary, just didn't have that.

She'd need to have a dramatic gesture to make her appear presidential enough despite the low experience. Obama did that with his 2004 DNC speech. I'd rather her odds of pulling off a 'moment' as doubtful

Probably.

For a woman to win the election, she will have to avoid backing things like "women's issues". That just doesn't sound right.
I've never heard a man talking about "men's issues" when running for president.

Saying something like that, pretty much alienates half the voters.
They can "feel" that way ofc, but shouldn't SAY it.

/e I don't think anyone should ever run with a platform that deals in only one sex's issues.

She could vaguely say 'womens issues' and avoid specifics and only tangentially reference it, because thats just expected at this point
Where it alienates people is once they latch onto something like the 'wage gap' or 'reproductive justice' or 'rape culture'. Thats when alarm bells go off and voters flock away in droves

Why would support for womans issues alienate men?
Makes zero sense.

because "womens issues" too often is a disguised form of "feminazis demanding onesided privileges for women and blame all the bad in the world on men".
