The 2017 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel, currently the only half-ton truck sold in the United States with a turbo-diesel engine, is being delayed for sale due to a more rigorous emissions evalution. Deliveries of the 2017 Ram EcoDiesel will have to wait until Ram receives an EPA emissions certification. This is due to the investigation underway by the EPA. FCA is under investigation for, allegedly, adding/creating software to EcoDiesels which alter emissions results under real-world driving conditions.

Anyone else feel like this is the EPA lately?

I dunno.... While I understand over regulation is a rampant problem, I don't see this as such. Essentially they were given a standard to meet, and if they designed the truck to only meet that standard for the testing purposes, and knew that the truck didn't meet said standards while under real world conditions - that's on them, just like VAG...

Play stupid games; Win stupid prizes.

As someone who lives on about 20% of the world's fresh water, I honestly like the EPA. The Trump cuts have already promised to take a over fifty million dollars away from the Great Lakes Initiative - in order to boost his military/defense spending.

I agree completely. being raised in the sticks and now living in the 3rd biggest city in the country I can relate to what the EPA is going for to an extent. I do however think they get a little trigger happy.

Definitely. Especially since cars aren't even close to being the greatest contributors of harmful emissions. But I suppose that isn't reason enough to not attempt to be as clean as we can.

I think of emissions/global warming/climate change like I do composites - we don't have to save 1 pound all in one place. You just need to save 1 oz in 16 places.

The best argument I have ever heard for pushing towards sustainable, renewable, energies was simply this: Commodity vs. Technology

Oil, gas, and fossil fuels are commodities. The longer we use them, the deeper we drill, the more difficult they are to procure - and subsequently the more expensive they become.

Solar, wind, hydro and other renewable energies are a technology: the longer we use and develop these systems....the CHEAPER they become.

The current issue with those systems, is retrofitting them to an antiquated grid system. But that's a topic for another discussion.

*steps down from hippie liberal soapbox*

Bingo!

However, keep in mind the EPA is a business and businesses need to make money. I truly think that they've found a cash cow and are just going to milk it dry at this point.
