Is the i game volume off along with channel music?
Did you have -ns in the target line of the short cut.
Are you using any mods or bots?

there in no -ns in target ...just uninstalled and reinstalled no bots/cheats when I use holy shield I can see the volume is registering cause the little green bar raises up in my sound mixer but I get no volume in game ....youtube ext. works fine tho I get sound on other stuff

If you have a surround sound configuration try setting it to stereo before launching diablo 2.

Make sure you update to the latest patch, if error on patching run D2 as administrator.

Since you said you've tried using holy shield, was this the first time D2 was installed on this PC? If not, did it work before?

Did you download D2 directly from Blizzard?

no surround sound I use laptop speakers ....windows 10 .....just downloaded latest drivers ...always run as administrator ...I used 2 have sound and no I have the cd's

copy the music/sound.mpq from disc to folder.
