It's widely considered dead by the four people that still play Diablo II. Otherwise, it's still alive and kicking and the competition is great.

d2 is also dead as fuck

d2 is alive 2 weeks a year, 1 week per reset.

d3 tragically still has some sort of players left, alltho it's more like 300 people playing singleplayer the fastest possible, no real challenge, just e-peen.

Dead on arrival. It was better at the beginning with the ah and while it still had the promise of getting better. Unfortunately, the nub developers only made the game worse as it went. It is a boring mindless grind that really no one enjoys.
