I got a laptop with a 120hz G-sync display. This is my first G-sync display, so I have a possibly stupid question: when I am playing games, is it still best to use V-sync in the game's settings for a consistent frame rate capped at my refresh rate, or does turning that on mess with the function of G-sync?

Seems to depend on the game. Some like to self cap @ your refresh rate with gsync on. Others require Vsync be enabled (Just caps the framerate, doesnt override gsync)

I just changed my Control panel settings to Global Vsync: On

Yeah I noticed a couple of my games stayed 120 cap with it off, but Path of Exile was running like 400+ so I turned vsync on.

So it for sure doesn't override Gsync to turn on Vsync?

Ayup.

Depending on what monitor you have, You can use the OSD to verify its still in gsync mode too.

It's a laptop, so I'm not so sure there's any sort of OSD, it's all eDP so all of the settings are through the BIOS

But that's still good information to have, and thank you for the assistance.
