Required:
Automatic
2LT Trim
Coupe

What I'm debating with myself:
Z51 vs Non-Z51
- If I get a Non-Z51, I will get the optional NPP performance dual exhaust. I will more than likely go this route as I don't see needing the Z51 for street / mountain use.
- Also the Z51 is a bit less reliable (more parts) and maintenance is a bit higher.

My lifestyle:
Will not track
Daily driver
Married

Discussion points:
So 2014 is the last 6 speed, but it's also the first year of C7, from my research despite it being first year it's still more reliable because of the 6 speed.
At the same time, I drive a 2015 Camaro so it will feel weird to get an older car + warranties will expire

It appears that the 2016 is when the 8 speed begins to get more reliable, so if I wait another year for next summer, the 2016's will be cheaper.

Tl;dr:
6 speed auto 2014 (purchase now) or 8 speed auto 2016 (purchase next year).
Non-Z51 + Exhaust upgrade or Z51
I'm no rush to buy.

What are your opinions?

i would highly recommend trying to find one with the 6speed, they are stupid strong for a stock tranny. but on the exhaust you could get the npp or do aftermarket once u buy it and prob get it for cheaper.

The six speed will be worth more, if you ask me - the reason why? - you even said it yourself

Just look at Ferrari.

Any six speed Ferrari, despite having amazing PDK counterparts, are astronomically more expensive. A 599 with a six speed manual transmission is now a 500,000 dollar car. Whereas the PDK version is still around 160,000.

I believe these will do the same. But not to the stupid levels of F car fucks.

If it's an investment, get the six speed. You'll thank me later.

If you plan on turning the car over in a couple years, the automatic will certainly perform well. Go for the warantee and the peace of mind.

Yeah, I just imagine the 2016 8 speed being more worked out so it should be more reliable, newer and of course a bit faster and better mileage.

It will be a car that I'll have until it dies, I plan on trading in my v6 2015 Camaro as well.
I'm looking at a pre-owned certified 2014 Z51 2LT under 7500 miles for under $48k from the same dealer that I bought my Camaro.

But it is a Z51, so it'll be more expensive and a waste.

So much debating in my head, but I would still like to hear thoughts on the 2014 6spd vs 2016 8spd.

Ive been pricing C7s for a couple of months now and you can do better than 48k, especially it you don't want the Z51. I've seen 2LTs in the low 40s pretty often.

That being said, I saw a new Grand Sport at the dealer on Saturday. God how I wish I had an extra $75k lying around...

Get the 8 speed car. It is light years ahead of the 6 speed from a performance perspective. They are a little weird to drive at first with all the shifting but they work well and hold more power than a stock 6 speed.

Damn split already in this topic.

Yeah I never drove the 8 speed yet I imagine I wouldn't like it at first.

I'm not that concerned in the performance area if you mean racing, I'm more into reliability.

Man, if I could get that 2015 Z51 3LT for a bit under 50 out the door I'd probably hop on a plane this weekend.
