he's nearing 50 and been using copious amounts of roids since age 18. surely he's going to croak in the next couple of years?
You know how you wake up one morning and there's an article: "_____ dead at the age of 51".
Roulette wheel.
Genetic lottery.
My grandpa lived to the age of 92. He had a big gut all his life. He worked as a smith & mechanic. No eye protection, usually no gloves. Caustic, toxic, cancer-inducing materials on his hands all the time. Breathed the stuff in nonstop. He smoked up to the age of about 68 or so. He smoked a lot. He quit because of me (I put an unlit cigarette in my mouth when I was 2 or 3, so he quit). What did he die from? A cancerous growth that burst in his stomach. It was likely operable but he didn't see the doctor in time, and when he did see the doctor, they didn't notice it right away. He was given 2 weeks to live at first, then 2 days later he was re-evaluated at 2 years, and 1 day later he was evaluated at 1 week to live. He died 5 days after that.
92 is a long time to live given a lack of exercise, big cut, exposure to shit chemicals. He loved to snack on sticks of butter.
Then you've got people who are relatively healthy, and die at 55 due to a heart attack. Or cancer. Or coming down with complications from getting sick.
Rich Piana should be just as much an example of what not to do, as he is an example of what to do:
1) Don't be an idiot and take stupid risks, you might die way too early
2) Don't be an idiot and not take risks, life ends either way and it would suck to not have lived how you wanted
If he's lucky enough to survive to 80 or longer, I'd say his risks probably paid off pretty nicely (I think his aesthetics are shit and he's crazy, but if that's what he wanted).
