if you're going to commit to the '97 series, i'm a firm believer that the first two films (egg of the king / battle of doldrey) really don't do anything special for the viewer. just a sloppier re-telling of something you've already seen.

third film is worth watching, i won't say why ~_~ then yeah, current ongoing series continues where the third film left off

The 90s berserk is my favorite anime to date and probably always will be, I'm not sure if im fangirling but I like the new berserk too mostly because I've been waiting nearly 5 years ( watched it in like 2013 ) and fell in love with coz the story and everything about it the style, everything. The new berserk is sub par to me compared to the old but I thoroughly enjoy it nonetheless. The animeatjon doesn't really bother me at all either. Long as the story stays in line for the most part and the scenes that need the extra get the extra I'm good. I actually plan on getting the curse mark tattood in red ink on me as well lol.
