I have a fire hose trained directly on my heatsink

It is so choice.

With great heat comes great responsibility to cool it. Always with maximum effort so your CPU can live long and process. It is elementary, dear watts for overclocking.

now for the good stuff.

upon reconfiguring the system for better airflow, you know changing out the fans, cleaning all the dust out, re-applying thermal paste, regular maintenance, i got the temperatures nice and stable! idling at 48-50c (to be expected with a micro case that can only fit one 120mm radiator) and running about 80c while running my favorite games.

ultimately i wouldn't recommend shoebox-sized cases. the novelty and portability just isn't worth it the hassle of cooling and the difficulty of working on the hardware.

now i've got the dreaded boot loop, where it keeps trying to reboot and won't even make it to POST with more than 1 stick of ram. new overpriced micro mobo is on the way.

checked the psu, ram, hdds, and all of that. reset the bios, flashed the bios, cleared the cmos. what an exciting crash course in liquid cooling.
