i'm honestly not familiar enough with the english team to say who was missing for their optimal squad currently (maybe sterling and kane?), but i'm certainly willing to concede this point - although it's hard to imagine that whoever they were missing is anywhere close to the quality of neuer, boateng, gündogan, reus, özil...
concerning your second point, however, i honestly didn't see too many germans overrate this match (neither beforehand nor after). maybe it was in anticipation of yet another lackluster performance in irrelevant games (we're used to that) of a team that would obviously never play a tournament match, or just based on the fact that it was a friendly and podolski's farewell game - anyway, game obviously doesn't matter at all, said it before and said it after the game.
reading this thread, however, it looks like a lot of english fans seemed to really have anticipated it and celebrated their admittedly decent performance by their standards in the first half, that's why i said it backfired...
You are right. If both teams played their starting 11, Germany would be stronger on paper.
Second point was a general consensus on ALL users in this forum and their nations, not just the English and the Germans.
Third point: All i did was read Pozer comment and realize it was an attempt to rile up the Germans on the forum.

shows you once again how much we cared...
we also wanted to be good hosts and make the english players feel like they were playing in a random premier league stadium (except liverpool ofc), just imagine their shock if there had been the usual dortmund atmosphere - some might have seriously considered choosing passion over money...
Idk man, the premier league has some pretty good atmospheres, White Hart Lane is one that stand out. Also West Hams stadium before the london stadium ( upton park ) had a fantastic atmosphere.
