Saw this article today, and it's a really interesting read, regarding the use of psychometrics, Big Data, and political campaigning.

It's a little long, but gives some really interesting insight into the US election, and the potential future of marketing, in general.

Remarkably reliable deductions could be drawn from simple online actions. For example, men who "liked" the cosmetics brand MAC were slightly more likely to be gay;

Social media is destroying the foundations of republicanism and democracy.

Populism and mob rule by majority is the future. Better just hope the majority has good intentions in mind.

Don't mock MAC. Shit is fucking awesome. The best foundation, eyeliner and eyeshadow bar none.

An argument can be reasonably made from this article that Trump didn't bumble and fumble his way to the White House, he played the public like a Stradivarius.

He may have been well-coached, though. But that certainly is the picture that is painted. The biggest thing that stood out to me was that Steve Bannon is on the board of Cambridge Analytica (certainly makes his position as Trump's chief strategist a lot more clear).
