So, starting today, I tried downloading an update for Cod4 Remastered. According to this article, it takes 6.19 GB for PS4:

I have just over 32 GB of storage left, but the updates won't download and keep telling me to go to storage.

I clearly have enough space, why won't that or most other games update?

You clearly don't understand how this stuff works. Free more space.

OS needs also space to install the downloaded packet (unpack etc).

Also, get professional help. You have a problem if your system is full. And the system being full is the least of your problems...

You shouldn't really go under 50gb free space, they reserve space for future firmware/ updates..so you might think you have a certain amount of free space, but in actuality you have less than that

I was excited about that, I may get one. Will just about any external with a USB 3.0 do the job?

I used to think that since I couldn't play games that often, the 500 GB hard drive wouldnt be an issue for me. I've now deleted most games besides like the 4 or 5 I play, and I still have no room. Is buying an external really my only option? Deleting the games I have left isn't an option because I still play them all.

I don't know
I've read reports on another forum that people were having problems with their externals saying they weren't compatible
Luckily mine works haha
And mines over 4years old
It was originally a back up drive for when I swapped out my ps3's original hard drive, then I had no other use for it..until the recent ps4 update

I guess it will be smart to just wait til the bugs get fixed out then. Having a 2+ TB external would be nice to have as backup for stuff, but I really only need it for the ps4 right now, so I need to make sure it's compatible
