Hey guys.

Ive replaced this much so far on the 2000 4x4 4 door jimmy sle

Front shocks with monroe gas shocks
Both front upper and lower balljoints with moogs
Idler arm with ac delco
Both front driver and passenger half cv shafts
Both front wheel bearing hub assemblys


I have the parts for rear shocks same style as front
New Rear diff cover
1x new rear shackle [shackle almost rusted out and they replaced only 1 before i bought it]

Waiting to get alignment until i do the rear and figure out why it still rides so rough when i go over potholes or little dips that my 2015 altima has no sound going over.

I know it will never be solid or quiet as a new car but what else should i check/replace?

Swaybar needs replaced i think because slight bent at the links on driver side.

So new swaybar/links/bushings?
Tie rod ends?
Pitman arm?

New arms help at all?
Or steering knuckles?
Any bushings im not thinking of that would help alot.

Id like to turn this into a trail rider for the fam and then id be ok with it riding rougher after i build it for that.

Do i need different or better shocks for street? And when i mod it for offroading and do torsion/shackle lift [until i can afford a 2.5-4"] what would be good or best shocks for this type, not dual right.

How are the tires you have on it? Believe it or not tires make a big difference on the ride quality. I have a 2500 HD Silverado and when the tires got shot, so did the ride. I put new Nokian M/S all around and it made a world of difference.

Some not too harsh a/ts. Not much bigger than factory tire size.
About 4 months old tires

i have a 2005 2door jimmy but im guessing it should ride verry smilarly
here is how it sits and how it feels
i have bilstein shocks on it and pretty much eveyrhing else has been changed or is in decent working condition as far as wear goes on steering components.

mine rides like a big ford police interceptor, you hit a bump and never stop the wave feeling and it always turns as if its about to start doing barrel rolls. ( im exagerating) so it not rought at all actually.
i get 1 banging sound and foud out it was the oil filter mounting plate witch is relocated in the front that is broken loose so it its to nearby metal places, zip ties haved clear the issue for now :bonk:

mine always ride way better when i have heavu stuff in the trunk or i am puling somehting.

i have a 2008 1500 and a 2014 tahoe and both of them ride great.

they are trucks tho....

I Agree. That old 08 GMC half ton I had rode like a car more than anything... I personally think the new GM trucks ride better than the air ride on the half ton dodges
