Not paying for insurance will be the only rational decision for most people who don't already have it, and just grabbing it if you need treatment for anything.

Probably because there's still the preexisting condition clause meaning you can abuse the system into non existence.

Also, there's the whole Christian idea that you are your brothers keeper, and the poor are worth protecting.

So the poor will only get insurance when they need it. Sounds like it will drive up prices for everyone else except the poor. When did Republicans become so liberal?

But look. You see how big the ACA is compared to AHCA is? Ours is much smaller.. "Pun intended" so it must be better! Less government! Just a few pages about how we want to fuck poor people and make rich people richer. Nothing to see here!

I'm just not sure how anyone can think this is an improvement.

People would rather the poorer people at the bottom of the spectrum get fucked so they can pretend to think their coverage costs will go down but the thing is, since this plan isn't going to most likely do anything about the fact poor people not having insurance which means people will go without insurance and then either get it when they have too or just have outstanding medical bills. Both of which drive up the cost of healthcare. And with no mandate and less taxes being collected , just going to end up with a worse version than ACA.

Joke of an idea is such an understatement. This is troll and shouldn't pass if republicans are willing to vote with a brain OR for their constituents

14 million more without insurance by next year, 24 million more uninsured in 9 years.

Yet the Donald told us during his campaign that "This is an un-Republican thing for me to say because a lot of times they say, 'No, no, the lower 25 percent that can't afford private'… I am going to take care of everybody. I don't care if it costs me votes or not. Everybody's going to be taken care of much better than they're taken care of now."

Medicare for all saves more money and covers more people (saves $400 billion/yr vs $400 billion over a decade in the AHA). http://www.medicareforall.org/pages/Costs_and_Savings

This is the move to weaken the GOP. The Dems are already in a panic, now the Republicans will fall.

Democracy, Republic, limited government. All mistakes.

We have two very terrible major parties who have convinced people that they are only allowed to have ideas from one side or the other, and when the sides shift the people do so seamlessly as well, ignoring cognitive dissonance.

If Trump and Bannon would stop acting like Republicans, because they aren't, we'd be in much better shape right now as a nation. I want that nationalism and reform they kept talking about during the campaign. I'm sick of McConnell with his puppet master hand shoved up Trump's ass.

Give it a few months. Trump seems like the cautious type but I wouldn't be shocked if he's getting frustrated with playing politics with two sides that oppose his vision. He'll be in a better place to take more direct actions in time.
