Yeah, definitely want a Hemi. Wouldn't get a truck without a V8 engine and prefer the Hemi over any V8 on the market. Would most likely go with the 5.7 though.
Don't want a chrome package, prefer forged or alloy wheels.

Building a RAM online hasn't worked out well for me, the RAM's are much more expensive than I had originally thought. I'm pretty much dead set on a 1500 Big Horn.
A 2017 RAM 1500 BIG HORN CREW CAB 4X4 5'7" BOX starts at $44,000. More than likely I'll be buying a used 2015 or 2016 model.

have fun when they keep your truck at the shop for 2 weeks replacing every bit of wiring on the truck
and then 2 weeks later when they have to take the whole dash out and put it back because its making a shit ton of noise

and then when they buy the truck back from you because its a lemon

Dodge is by far the cheapest. Chevy and Ford will be basically the same out the door. Go drive them imo. You aren't going to get a new one with $15k down and $400/mo payments unless you get a plain base model and finance it for 7 years. Sticker on my 2014 silverado was $50k and it's not even an LTZ or high country.

just have to be smart and buy during dealer promotions.
Not sure if this link is legal: http://www.dennisdillonchryslerjeepdodge.com/new/Ram/2017-Ram-1500-Caldwell-boise-4451174a0a0e0ae8294096d1c6cdbbfa.htm

50k for a 1500 sounds about as much fun as jerking off with a hand full of rusty nails. What the hell were you thinking?

The sticker on mine was $50k and it is an LT with cloth seats. I did buy it during a model year close out promotion and got $8k in rebates plus another $2k in brand loyalty incentive then another $2k off from negotiating. I got $16,800 for my ram on trade. I financed $25k after extending the bumper to bumper warranty.

What do you think is better, buying new or used?

Loaded high country silverados and gmc Denali trucks are over $60k sticker now for a half ton without dealer installed options. A loaded 2500 diesel will set you back $72k-$75k.

My Z06 was similar in price to the truck back in 2001.

Buying a 1-2 year old truck with under 20k miles is probably the most fiscally responsible route. I intended to buy a 12 or 13 model but they were still $30k- $35k for a nice one. After the rebates on the 14 I was barely over that and it had 27 miles on it.

Yeah, that's what I was hoping you'd say. Like I had originally planned, a 15-16 with under 25k miles which should be around 30k/price would be ideal/my target.

The new trucks are so expensive and as soon as you drive off the lot the value drops by thousands.
I've always wanted a brand new truck, but financially I don't think it's the best decision.

They say Hemi engines just start "breathing" after 20k miles anyways right?

The new Hemi isn't even a Hemi. It's just a name and logo
