Well you have some "melee" skill that become ranged with area of effect boosted ? what's wrong in it ?

Melee cant be ranged. Ranged is ranged and melee is melee

That's simply untrue. Reave for example is extremely melee ranged with large AOE

Blade Flurry / Reave / Lacerate / EQ / Sunder could all be coined ranged melee (not in game terms) but in common sense

Didn't mean to be defensive and sorry if it came off like that. It's just this forum gives me a lot of flack and flames me immensely whenever I use the term melee range like it's some cardinal sin.

if you wanted to avoid confrontation; I would say "Melee AoE" as that would be the game language of what we are describing. I could see how people would disagree with us because "ranged" is in the wording on several skills - ex. = barrage
