I'm in the health and fitness industry. Can't see that being automated, especially with less labour jobs with I will equal an increase in sedentary lifestyle

when your clients are increasingly unable to afford your services it wont matter if "your" specific job isnt automated. I assume you dont/wont work for free?

@TheSnipa the situation you mentioning is an anathema to me, and the level of suffering during that transitional period seems enormous. Homesteading is/will be my personal rejection to that.

Won't happen. The people who are paying for personal training aren't people whose jobs are being replaced.

Not only Zappy's point, but technology is making things like personal trainers obsolete. Why pay someone to tell you how to work on xyz when there's an app for everything.

I can totally see in 20-30 years people showing up to the gym with a VR headset and being spoon fed lessons.

Not sure what you mean by the "United States" if you mean the people then you're wrong. The United States will get paid to sit back only as long as it remains a profitable market. The corporations that largely control much of the world wealth (and continue to centralize that wealth) don't have much loyalty to a country or feels.

My statement is not nonsense, it's simple economics. You can't support 200 million people living on welfare when the system is at capacity at lets say supporting only 50 million. To think that corporations will sacrifice profit margins and basically subsidize us to get fat & lazy is far fetched.

But here is your mistake. Eventually there will be no profitable markets as we know them. At which time firms can choose less profit or annihilation.

This.

Research and development expands exponentially with technology. Robots will create MORE jobs in the long run.

Maybe, until we automate the process of automating industries.

I suspect a butlerian jihad-esque event before then.

Theres an emotional aspect to humanity with regards to survival that cant be left behind without threatening extinction. Ie: If you look at first world cultures, their will to survive among individuals is much strongerb/c their lives train them hard.

..Unless youre just trolling me.
