Not a bad idea to go get some comp XP. The whole thing about doing the 1st show imho should be about doing a damned show, not winning. People hesitate for years trying to build/sculpt to perfection first, and they could get injured or just too busy to train/compete.
Aim to win if you want, but just get a contest in. If you're planning to do comps for at least a couple of years, yesterday is always the best time to start. Also, competing natty is tricky because most natty competitors aren't natty or they don't have a natty base (a.k.a. took a few cycles off).
thats more of an issue in like like provincial comps once you qualify.
but yeah its super lame.
but rew is right, the first is the HARDEST. now that ive been through one i feel like i could do another with ease (in regards to eating, training, and the entire process of registering and tanning etc)
9 weeks isnt a lot of time to truly take adv of gear, but you could definitely watch your body explode a little with a nice cycle set up.
but none the less it would set you up for a big show in august.
