I listen to a shit ton of albums, probably like 2-4 new ones a day and I tend to run low on ideas as to what I should download. I tend to listen to somewhat upbeat stuff, as in the pace isn't too slow, because I listen to a lot of this stuff at the gym and that kind of thing helps.

If you guys wouldn't mind just recommend some albums and a reason as to why I should download it and listen to it. Doesn't need to be a good reason, just something unique about the album, at least to you, or at least why I should listen to it. For the most part I tend to listen to folk, blues, jazz, most forms of rock, post-rock, etc. but not really much in the way of metal these days unless it is very good. If I listen to an album recommended here I will also make it a point to post what I thought about that album. Bear in mind my responses will likely be stupid, irrelevant or both.

For tonight I listened to these two,

Not Available by The Residents

Totally over my head, I felt like they were trying to achieve something that I didn't understand or appreciate. I thought the vocals the album had were kind of annoying, don't really remember any of the lyrics, and find I only really enjoyed parts of songs here and there and can't feel like I "got it".

Dub Housing by Pere Ubu

This one was easy listening compared to the first. Not a fan of his singing here, I enjoyed most of the songs in general but I was at the gym and extremely tired during most of it so it kind of just seemed like a slightly abrasive pop-punk album to me.

Yup.

I'm also trying to listen to lot of albums i never did before. But after listened to a album, sometime i feel like i don't remember any songs afterward. It takes me lots of listenings back to dig it... Or sometimes i just can't.

I wonder how an album can instantly go and stay through your head and some just go through our ears and that's it.

I couldn't agree more. Most of the time I have the iPod in my pocket, so I don't even read the song titles as they transition, so I'm often left with a singular impression of an entire album. Every now and then like you said I can listen to one a few times and I remember them song by song, but those are few and far between.

Late posting.

This is a decent blues album with, as you might expect, a shit ton of harmonica. Honestly that's the impression I was left with, songs are quick and to the point and I just had this image of walking down a railroad track at night when listening to it.

I Got Dem Ol' Kozmic Blues Again Mama! by Janis Joplin

So this is apparently her first album, and considering that it's pretty solid. She always seemed to have that extremely genuine quality to her singing. This one came off as pretty raw sounding, it even includes a few lives tracks, too, which was nice but overall I find that Pearl and that one with "Ball and Chain" on it to be far better. Still worth listening to.

Most annoying part is the stupid hippy rant on her live cut lol.
