I was raised christian and i have read the bible multiple times, i went to church and i went to bible camp.
The current incarnation of christianity where greed is good and you do not care about anyone but yourself is far from the christ of the bible.
Jesus's message was about love and self sacrifice, not about judgement and hatred.

Oh come on Ice, you're smart enough to know thats the vocal group of those of us that identify as atheists. The ones that have seen one debate between Hitches and (insert theologian here) but haven't researched further.

I'll be the first to admit that this New Atheism movement has a fundamentalist undertone to it. Some of the most outspoken ones have the attitude of "you're religious so you're stupid," which causes too much discourse to actually have a serious discussion of it.

I really don't think Dawkins is as inflammatory as Milo is. I don't think its even a comparison

He definitely was if you look at his target audience. Dawkins is really hated among southern evangelicals and many religious people you wouldn't even think of.

Milo looks really bad right now because he's the flavor of the week. We will see how long he hangs around.

If anything i think right wing christians understand the bible even less than left wing atheists.

If you can read the entire new testament which is about love, peace and brotherhood and the only things you take from it is that you have to hate gay people and oppose abortion, you do not understand the bible.

Dawkins is an idiot sticking his mouth where it shouldn't be, much like Milo. Much like Milo, he advocates aggressively and uncompromisingly along the lines of his personal bias.

Dawkins, however, is a brilliant biologist. His anger is rooted in something at least relevant (anti-science sentiment among some Christian communities; teaching creationism/ID as science).

I think the differentiation is this: Dawkins is a bigot. Milo is a dumb bigot.
