I've been wanting to make this kind of thread for quite a while, because frankly as Americans/Westerners we don't have to deal with terrorist attacks too often, but people in the Middle East/Africa experience it practically every day. So, let's remember that our war on terror isn't just about protecting American lives.

This is a thread to discuss specific attacks or terrorism in general, all spam will be PMed to a moderator.

Islamabad, Pakistan (CNN)A bomb exploded during a protest in Lahore, Pakistan, on Monday, killing at least 14 people and injuring 59 more, according to government spokesman Malik Ahmad Khan.

Two groups claimed joint responsibility for what officials said was a suicide attack. Jamat-ul-Ahrar, a splinter group of Pakistan's Tehreek-i Taliban (TTP) -- also known as the Pakistani Taliban -- claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement emailed to CNN. In addition, the chief of North Waziristan Agency's Intiqam Waziristan, or the "Avengers of Waziristan," told CNN in a phone call that they were responsible.

Jamat-ul-Ahrar was also responsible for a deadly attack in Lahore less than a year ago. Last Easter Sunday, a suicide bombing at a neighborhood park killed at least 69 people and injured 341 others.

Monday's blast occurred at Charing Cross in Lahore, the capital of Pakistan's Punjab province and the second-largest city in the country.

Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif strongly condemned the blast, according to a statement obtained by CNN, saying that "such cowardly acts cannot deter the resolve of the nation to stand against terrorism and our government is committed to root out this menace."

thank you, great thread, let's not forget that the vast majority of victims killed by "radical islamic terrorism" or "violent extremism", whatever you want to call it, are muslims.

let's stop pretending the nations who brought war to these regions, destabilised them, and played a huge role in creating the likes of ISIS don't have an obligation to help solve these problems.
like they can just close their borders, pretend they have nothing to do with it, and leave it to other nations, who don't happen to have an ocean between them and those regions, to deal with them...

Of course terrorism kills most muslims when terrorism mainly happen in most countries where muslims are the majority
Perfect example why we shouldn't invade the first world countries with terrorists :)

Shouldn't invade jack mate. Go and find your needs in Space. Better long-term options there, I heard.

In other news: CNN usually provides good news but I learned to not value news too much these days.
The most ridiculous things are being spread as "news" nowadays..

There's been at least two attacks in the past 3 months here in the states by 'home grown" radicalised muslims

Quote
28 Nov 2016, Columbus, Ohio, vehicular attack on students at Ohio State University, after which the driver attacked people with a knife; attacker was shot and killed by police. 1 killed, 11 injured
6 Jan 2017, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, shooting attack at Fort Lauderdale Airport; 5 killed, 6 injured; 12,000 people evacuated from airport

But you have people on the left claiming climate change is the number 1 threat to America

As I recall it Pakistani terrorism is rooted heavily in the North-Western tribal areas (ie. Waziristan) where it enjoys a dynamic relationship with Islamism in Afghanistan.
The usual targets are Shi'ites, Ahmadiya Muslims and Pakistani Christians.

And as it happens they are correct in their assessment.

2 deaths a month is not a relevant number.
