Come onnnnnnn. They have been hit or a miss for a while but the 80s and 90s were fine imo.

Trying to be fair. From 75 to approx. 79, they were all funny, all the time.
Since then they have been hit or miss.

I mean it's gotta be hard to compete with names like:

Laraine Newman, John Belushi, Jane Curtin, Gilda Radner, Dan Aykroyd, Garrett Morris, and Chevy Chase.

90s had Farley, Myers, Sandler, Norm, Rock, Ferrell
Early 00s was pretty cool too because it spawned 30 Rock

Original was best but 90s was awesome.
