Hello D2JSP,

Can we get a "username history" feature similar to Steam one for when a user change his D2JSP username? Because it helps scammers/BM traders in hiding their identity.

I take FTV (formerly known as Okopia23) as an example, a common multier/troll in Europe HCL: http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=75899737&f=100&p=513301093

Thank you.

Old topic was closed because apparently polls are mandatory and I weren't aware.

Seems pretty pointless

The userID reamins the same so just keep track of that and you'll be able to see if they namechange

If you decide to not do that then they don't seem to bother you enough anyw

/Looking at the topic you made without poll, a user can't hide his idenity by changing cause as stated above ID remains the same

For example mine ( 516240 )

Three flaws with your logic:

- It assumes people are aware of this UserID thing, which is only included in the URL and laymen can easily overlook it.
- Let's take this scenario again as an example, Okopia23 changed his name to FTV. Okopia23 weren't active for long time, so his post/topic history has been removed, and suddenly came back as FTV. Now, how can we get Okopia23's UserID or verify that he is indeed FTV?! I was lucky that I came across that page, but again.. Laymen?
- Who the hell would want to keep track of UserIDs?! You tried to discard this point in your post, but I think it is still very valid (while you didn't keep == they didn't bother you enough is flawed logic).

Finally, I have no idea why you concluded my suggestion "totally pointless" when you have provided a very unpractical, ineffective alternative.

Thank you for posting your opinion.

Which you think is easier to remember: a random string of numbers or letters that might represent a word(s)

For example, which you think is easier to remember: d2jsp.org or 104.20.30.155

Seeing most people put it in their sig/notes

(Like op)

You could just hyperlink it and u wouldnt even worry about user changin name as link still goes to him

Zoni

Otherwise just put userlink in notes

I wouldn't really remember either id or name on top of my head

If you just put a link to a user's pofile with their current username, in future you'd have to go through your own profile to know if someone has changed their name, which is not that convenient

In last sentence you are just lying. I'm sure you remember usernames with some meaning to you (not necessarily in either good or bad)

I dont know how well you know your friends, so let's take njaguar as an example. I don't remember his user id but I surely remember his username. Now if he was to change his username and there was no clear indicator (group: admin, pikachu icon) who he is, like normal users don't, I really wouldn't know that it's him. Now if I was able to see username history, sure as hell I would know who he is and most likely remember the new username. Though I still wouldnt remember his user id.

Username history inclusion serves the same purpose as "Last Seen" visibility even when you are logged in anonymously; this level of transparency is a must in D2JSP.

Yes. Names are meant for humans to recognize ppl, id-s are for databases.
