more practice not playing if you want to get better, but it gets boring.. id say maybe mix it up, 2 days practice 1 day play, repeat.

I was always told perfect practice makes perfect.

Practice how you would play. Set up something in your yard and practice your short game.

Have someone record your swing and watch it. You'd be surprised how fucked up you might be swinging until you see it.

Just playing rounds will help you too but practicing at home and the driving range is very helpful.

Also be sure to practice on different surfaces. Kid I grew up withs parents own the local driving range and we'll occasionally shoot off damp green, rough, fairway, bunkers, wet fairway, edge of green, elevations etc. it sounds dumb, but it actually helps. Doing a couple hundred shots with my 5-9s in the rough the last 2 months has probably shaved 2-3 strokes off my game.

I'm not great by any means, around a 92-96 golfer, but I enjoy it. Couple years back, I had no fucking clue how to swing the club and I thought it was like ground baseball. Rofl

Ground baseball

That seems to be the general consensus of new beginners ;)
