I noticed a slight vibration on the interstate coming back from the Greeneville SC cars and coffee back in November. The last 2 times I drove the car it seemed to be getting worse. It's a pretty strange issue to diagnose because of the propshaft/torque tube setup in the vette. I have a vibration only under heavy load and only when the car is hot. That leads me to the Guibos (couplers) in the torque tube. I think they are starting to deform and I'm only hearing it once they expand. I installed a new pilot bearing when I put the twin disc in during the rebuild so I doubt it's that. I'm asking an awful lot of the factory propshaft and couplers. When you put too much torque through the propshaft it will actually start to deform and look like a jump rope. That deformation the rubber couplers and starts and destructive sequence.

So I'm going to enjoy this 70 degree weather and yank the whole rear diff/cradle/trans and diff torque tube out of the car and inspect it. I've never had to disassemble a torque tube so that should be fun. If I get in there and find damaged couplers but no marks from deflection I'Il replace them and go on my way. If I see signs of propshaft deflection I'Il be ordering a DriveShaft Shop carbon fiber propshaft that eliminates both couplers altogether. I doubt I'll notice any added vibration that may come with it. That son of a bitch is $1300 though. My biggest worry with the CF shaft is the elimination of the couplers shocking my trans harder. I'm already about 450whp past it's design limits lol.

This is what the stock propshaft looks like removed from the torque tube. The couplers are on the ends and the little rubber donut in the middle is what will show me evidence of any deflection.

Nothing is cheap or easy on a vette lol. Pulling the rear cradle really isn'isn't that bad. It's held in with 4 big bolts. Maneuvering the whole thing around with the torque tube attached requires at least 2 people though and 3 people makes install much easier. 1 guy to work the jacks, 1 guy to push, and 1 guy to watch the input shaft go into the clutch assembly.

Trans is 450HP over already?

Let that bitch eat and go buy a new one?

You've got to be just about ready for a sequential gearbox by now right? It's a minor cost.

Except you know, the body, the motor, the suspension.

It's nice for a bathtub I guess.

The only logical thing to do is TR6060 swap it. If I do that I'm swapping a C6Z or ZR1 cradle and diff into it too. That swap runs $5000-$12000 in parts depending on how dumb you go with it.

The PPG sequential setup that fits in the T56 case is about $20k installed haha.

Yeah we try to make our cars out of the most expensive materials with the most expensive designs as possible. Oh wait, that's bugatti, and they are slow. The fuck kind of argument is that lol?

Calling them slow is just ig'nant. Can your C5 reach 250mph right out of the factory?

Veyrons are all about prestige.

It will go A to B faster than a Veyron over any sort of normal racing distance including a standing mile. The SS would be faster. Point being my "cheap" corvette and the 7 figure veyron aren't that different from a functionality standpoint. And seeing as I don't give a shit about prestige, I'll save the 7 figures.

I never said my car is stock either so who gives a shit about factory numbers?

No it won't.
No it isn't.
Yes.... They are....

Any car can be made fast, factory data is what matters.
