One more thing then I'm done :)
This made me realise how ridiculous it is having a futuristic weapon that needs to be the same size as the amount of damage it seems to cause. You could destroy cities with nukes 1000's of times smaller and as for the planets you might as well use the Death Star as giant bowling ball ^^
Doesn't seem that practical especially as they try to deny using it, don't they have some kind of interplanetary radar. Pretty hard to hide but could say it used stealth tech or something does look that way.
Still I'd strap a booster to an asteroid to make a planet killer and go with the bowling ball to save a fuck load of resources ^^
By the time we master warp travel a planet killer will be the size of a handgun
I don't think you realize just how much power it would take to destroy a planet. And we aren't talking about destroying the surface here, we are talking complete destruction of the entire mass. Overcoming the gravitational pull to push all the materials away.
Not to mention I don't think it being huge was because it needed to be that big to make the weapon work. I think it was a combination of a number of things, consisting the power core in the center was like half the ship. Plus enough shield generators to make the thing indestructible, and power to power it indefinitely. Etc.
