Too much has been talked about the need for safe spaces for gender identity and insulate students from toxic and oppressive speech concerning sexuality or rape
But too little is being done to address the needs of religious minorities and the oppression they feel by being unable to safely pray in public.
Consider this interview with an average student transferred out of Columbus, who just wants to be able to pray without being scared of a judgmental public;
Its a shame and a national tragedy that students who just want the freedom of religious expression have to live in fear that they could be attacked randomly by any member of the public just because of racism, bigotry and intolerance. Because of the kind of racist hate speech and calls to violence that occurs on social media, because of the greater media trends that condemn entire nations based only on the actions of a few and declare all their population culpable. And here's a kid who just wants a room to pray in, because he can't safely express himself outdoors.
