looking for a good guide on building current patch templar for Hardcore mode and pushing grs

should i socket them with ruby's or give him more res?

Ruby on amu/ring, whatever on weapon for a tiny bit dmg assistance, but really, templar/any follower damage is so negligible compared to yours (their couple millions vs your tens of billions damage) so gem does not really matter.

Followers don't need any defensive items/gems/stats. They will not die since you will need to equip them with the "Follower will not die" relic.

Stats required for Templar:
1) Cooldown reduce on every item (for more frequent heals and stuns).
2) Attack speed increase on every item (for more frequent stuns and slows from wyrward ring and thunderfury combo).
3) Crit hit chance and crit hit damage where possible, but not really required.

Sockets on the hirling, WTF? Cooldown is supreme!, attack speed is minor but best of the rest. I prefer the Haunt ring, fires all the time and slows everything it hits. Use Freeze of Deflection shield and max blocking, once again interrupting mob attack, RLRL
