Hey Guys!

Hope you can help me out. Since a month or so I am confronted with some irregular FPS drops ingame. These do not come with sudden great graphical effects or huge encounters, but even on doing nothing, like just sitting in Stormwind @World of Warcraft. In addition it's not only dropping FPS, but in games where I have sound turned on even the sound is lagging, when these fps drops occure.

To give you an overview about my system:
Win10 Home 64bit
AMD Fx 8350 @4.0GHz (non OC) + random CPU cooler
16 GB DDR3
ASRock 970 Extreme4
GTX 750 Ti TwinFrozr, running 1080p
250 GB 850 Evo for Games/Win
500 GB HDD for storage

Running Speedfan I realized my CPU Temp is quite high (65C), leading to the idea it might be throttled down at some times. Turned off Throttling in my BIOS in return. Went good for some hours even, having FPS drops now again though...

Games I play @1080p: Heroes of the Storm, World of Warcraft, Overwatch... That's literally it.

Any Ideas? I am kinda clueless...

Thanks :)

Run hwmonitor and/or afterburner to see if it is downclocking itself and if that coincides with when ur fps drops

Pretty sure those amd chips arent supposed to be going over 62C. Might wanna reinstall your cpu cooler with some new thermal paste

Thanks for your post.

Kept track of this with Afterburner as recommended and tried to match this. All 8 curves from each core of my AMD don't show any sign at all when these fps drops occur. However the power % curve is dropping as far down as I would run my PC idle. So is this still a problem of my CPU or does power % refer to the PSU which also feeds the CPU afaik?

Seems to be fixed. Lowered CPU Voltage to see if it takes off some work from the PSU. No issues anymore. Thanks for the tip with afterburner.
