Trump had no obligation to release his taxes, he sent his returns to the NYT himself to show exactly why the government doesn't want him to pay taxes.

It is not a case of the government not wanting him to pay taxes lol. It is a case of the government not having a legal mandate to require him to. Huge difference and I do agree the tax system is deeply flawed (who doesn't?). That being said his defense wasn't up to par, partially due to the fact he tried to keep it a secret for a year

The laws written by government are forcing Trump not to pay, he's the real victim here, being blamed for something he didn't write into law.

"It's what other billionaires do" - will work for the 30% of voters that will back him no matter what. The statement won't be winning any undecided which is what the goal of the debates is for each candidate. Sad to see that these debates aren't who does better but rather who fucks up less
