I know what you mean though, they're more overarching terms, then there's more specific genres like comedy, fantasy etc below them

Sorry wasn't being pedantic, my understanding is that shounen and Seinen are aimed at different target audience's (as in age). Both have many different genres within them as you say.

Death Parade - When people die they are Reincarnated or go to Hell. Largely psychological show about "Purgatory", where decisions are made on who should go where (by playing a "game") - Somewhat weak on overall plot but each episode is interesting on its own.
Steins;Gate - Time travel. Alternate Realities.
Boku dake ga Inai Machi - A man goes back in time to catch an unknown murderer that killed someone he knows
Mayoiga - A group of people go to a village away from known existence to start a new life and end up uncovering a lot of mysteries
