Lol.. ok... let's break down medals by state on america....
26 golds in california with 38 million.
9 golds in Maryland with 8 million population.
Those are only the GOLDS......
Also, That's simply because only a maximum number of athletes can compete per event...
USA crushing it as always.

The U.S. Has Fewer Medals Per Capita Than 41 Other Countries ...
about GB performance:
- it's because russia got partially kicked out, for mostly political reasons: the whole athletism & other endurance sports are cancerized by doping, not only russia.
- theres more money invested in sports in england, not only soccer
- old colonies & english language; a good destination choice for a career champion coming from africa or eurasia.
everything has an explanation
The top 5 after adjusting for population
1. Grenada – 1 medal (population 107 thousand)
2. Bahamas – 1 medal (population 393 thousand)
3. New Zealand – 11 medals (population 4.6 million)
4. Jamaica – 6 medals (population 2.8 million)
5. Slovenia – 4 medals (population 2.1 million)
each country can arrange the ranking in the way they prefer, from golden only vs total medals, or why not from team vs individual sports etc.
US population - 325 million. 40 Gold medals, 110 medals overall
UK population - 65 million. 26 Gold medals, 63 medals overall
Per capita you lose. Badly.
