Yeah I thought the same, but the gospel writers reported that Jesus was crucified at "the Place of a Skull", known as 'Golgotha' in Hebrew, meaning 'Skull' [Matthew 27:33; Mark 15:22; Luke 23:33; John 19:17]. Near the Old City of Jerusalem, 'cavaties' in a rocky hillside align to form a vivid image of a skull

i'm pretty sure that Jesus went on the road to Egypt. as in, barely at the beginning of the road. And that road could've started near Jerusalem. Israel isn't big, and in the time of Jesus it was divided into even smaller roman provinces

The Gospels were witness accounts. Revelations is a prophetic vision, this word "figurative?" in explaining, referenced by the old testament, if I'm not mistaken. Latter being the case, it could have been Sodom as well but the emphasis seems to be on the Law being transgressed. That is spoken about in the Gospels as well, written on witness testimony. Pray that helps. Always keep in mind the nature of every Book in the Bible when reading. Instruction, Historic, eye witness account and more can carry weight.
