In my last thread I asked about quality cameras for beginner photography and I was promptly recommended DSLR, specifically the Sony a6000 (budget would be ~$500-700 AUD).

Ive also been recommended the following cameras:
- Nikon D3300
- Canon EOS 750D (Rebel T6i)
- Nikon D5500
- Canon EOS 700D (Rebel T5i)
What are your thoughts regarding these cameras? Keeping in mind their desired purpose. (Beginner photography and Youtube videos - up close tutorials etc.)

How big is the difference in video quality between 3 fps and 5 fps max video resolution?

Lastly, what are some other good quality items I may need for enhanced viewing pleasure -- and that wont dig too deep into the hip pocket. (Ie. mic devices etc)

Maybe expand what you're looking at and take a look at the Sony A6300. The A6000 looks good.

Yeah I agree the A6000 was recommended by couple other jsp users. I'll look into the a6300.
Would it still be as viable for videoing as other options?

I can safely say after using this camera I would never buy any other Budget camera. Fuji NAILS this mirrorless setup and its awesome.

What is "3 fps and 5 fps max video resolution". FPS refers to frames per second, not resolution.

Aside from the camera, you will need to purchase lenses. My camera is worth over $2000, and I have about $3000 worth of lenses. If I had a $500 camera, I would still likely have about $2000 worth of lenses at least to meet my needs. That isn't to say you need to dump that much cash on lenses right away.

For video, you will want to look at external audio, as well as proper stabilization equipment (just holding the camera with your hands won't do).

Ok, the specs on certain sites list it exactly like that though (3 fps and 5 fps max video resolution).. why would they call it that? does it actually relate to video resolution?


What sort of lenses would I need?

Ok cool, any specific brands for a quality but not too expensive mic?
And ill look into tripods too.


Any other good cameras that will be effective for video as well as photography?

I don't know. You'll have to link me to what you're referring to, otherwise I have no idea what the 3 fps and 5 fps is.

I don't know about any quality mics. I know DSLR's, and so I know a bit about video, but I'm not interested in video.

I looked into the Sony A6300. It has significant rolling shutter problems. Looks like jello when you film and move the camera around. I don't know if the A6000 has this same issue. But 4k video may be something you may want to do.

As for lenses, it's up to you. You may want a shallow depth of field, so you might want a Sigma 24mm f1.4 prime, or a 35mm f1.4 prime on crop. You might want a zoom so a 17-50mm f2.8 or Sigma's 18-35 f1.8 are both good (the Sigma 18-35 f1.8 is excellent for video and photography on crop sensor cameras). You might want ultrawide. I don't really know, depends on what you film.

alright lets keep lenses for a later discussion. It will be costly enough purchasing the right camera w/ accessories for video/audio quality.

So first maybe we should talk about specs. You just mentioned 4k video may be something I want, would this produce hd 720p+ on youtube vids?

what other specs would i need for great sound/audio quality?



similarly, what are the standard-high standard quality specs on a camera for capturing pictures?
